Urethane is harder and more abrasion/UV resistant, remains color stable, and runs thinner at a given weight. Rubber is softer, can have odor, and typically shows higher rebound. Do Vulcan Prime urethane plates bounce less? Yes. Prime plates use high-hardness urethane for a tighter, lower rebound than typical rubber plates when dropped. Are they odorless? Yes. Prime urethane weight plates are odorless. What’s the weight accuracy? ±1% weight tolerance per plate size. What are the diameter and bar fit? Outer diameter is 450 mm (IWF standard for training). Collar opening is 50.4 mm for Olympic bar sleeves. How thick are the plates by size? Approximate thicknesses: 10 lb ≈ 18 mm, 25 lb ≈ 38 mm, 35 lb ≈ 43 mm, 45 lb ≈ 48 mm, 55 lb ≈ 53 mm. Can 10 lb plates be dropped? Use 10 lb plates with larger plates on the bar. Do not drop the barbell with only 10s loaded.
