For hundreds of years (possible thousands) sandbags have been an integral training tool for athletes, specifically wrestlers. They are an inexpensive tool that is incredibly versatile and can offer the benefits of unstable training with a challenging load. This is a benefit that many modern training modalities cannot deliver. Greater stabilizer, trunk, and grip strength can be developed with sandbags as well as sport-specific drills, mobility work, and a great conditioning tool.

What is the functionality of the sandbag?


The Vulcan Sandbag System can be filled with combinations of sand "Filler" bags or slammer balls. Due to their versatility, simplicity, and proven results Sandbags are fast becoming one of the most popular functional fitness tools out there. Sandbag training helps develop explosive power and strength in the lower, core, and upper body efficiently due to the instability of the load. A sandbag shifts around constantly while in use, and this forces your body to make small adjustments. This works muscles rarely used with the addition of applying a traditional workout to your arm and leg muscles. There really isn’t another product out there that can boast of this versatility. What material is the sandbag made of?


The Vulcan Sandbags are made of high-density rugged materials. The Vulcan Sandbag Training System offers very sturdy handles and a well constructed highly durable strength and conditioning tool. The Vulcan Sandbag is constructed of military spec 1050 denier Ballistic Nylon, heavy duty stitching, zippers and snap closures.


What are the components of the Sandbag set?


The Vulcan Sandbag comes with 2 - 3 filler pouches constructed of heavy duty reinforced nylon with a polymer coated inside to keep sand and dust from leeching from the bag. The filler bags offer a double hook and loop closure with hook and loop on the inside and flap of the filler bag as well ensuring that the contents of the filler bag do not leak out onto your gym floor or clients. We've achieved great results with our athletes with these bags by filling them with peat gravel or slam balls. We have tested the Vulcan Sandbag with 220 pound loads (Iron Shot) without issue.

Max Tested Load: 100 kilograms Iron shot. We have found that peat gravel is an excellent choice of filler material leaving the bag more pliable than traditional sand.
